Gamers: A Neglected Mission Field

There are many arguments about which fields are the most neglected fields in the world. Some would argue about people groups, countries, and even cities. But what would you do if I told you there is a field with more than 2.7 billion people, who need to hear the Word of God, but we haven’t enough missionaries? It is estimated that there are 2.7 billion gamers across the world (to give you an idea, that’s roughly one-third of the world’s population). The majority of these gamers play using one of more than 4.7 billion mobile devices active in the world today. While mission fields used to conjure up images of a faraway land and exotic food, today they look a lot more like a glowing screen or a gaming console. So, if you have a smartphone and a passion for people, then carry on reading. We need your help!

In March of this year, Hope Channel will release Heroes 2: The Bible Trivia Game. Heroes is a free app that allows gamers to engage with the Bible narrative while playing. Following Jesus’ method, this app finds people exactly where they are and speaks their “gaming language”. An international team has been working tirelessly for over two years designing the beautiful 3D characters, composing the original soundtrack, and writing the Bible studies and trivia questions. An additional team of translators also made sure that, on the date of its release, Heroes 2 will be available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. But our dream is far greater than that! We believe that when Jesus said, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations” (Mt. 28:19 NLT) He meant exactly that. So, we want to also make Heroes 2 available in Albanian, Arabic, Chinese Mandarin, Croatian, Danish, Dutch, German, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Marathi, Polish, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Ukrainian, and  Zulu.

Calling All Translators

If you are good with languages and you have a heart for missions, then we need your help! We are calling all translators to help us make this innovative digital evangelism tool available to all. If you want to volunteer as a translator, please register here: https://bit.ly/heroestranslation We have a special tool designed just to help you! DeepVision, a Ukrainian team of Christian developers, created The Adventist Translation App, an online platform to facilitate the work of volunteers around the world. “When it comes to the Bible, people need it in their mother tongue,” says Pastor Sam Neves, the Associate Director of Communication for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. “The Adventist Translation App will help us translate projects to all languages so millions of people can interact with the Biblical narrative creatively.”

If you want to help us find people exactly where they are, and share the Gospel with them in their own language, join our translators’ team! If languages are not your strong suit, but you still want to support us, you can join our Ambassadors Programme.
