Pope Francis will make an “apostolic journey” to the United States Sept. 22-27, where he will become the first pope to address a joint session of Congress. The infographic below highlights key events on the papal itinerary.
Seventh-day Adventists, who see prophetic significance in the pope’s increasing influence over world affairs, have planned several outreach activities to share biblical messages with Philadelphians before and during the pope’s visit.
- The Pennsylvania and Allegheny East conferences (whose territory includes Philadelphia) will distribute literature on building stronger families. Families are the focus of the Philadelphia event that the pope will attend.
- Remnant Publications plans to mass-mail 690,000 copies of Ellen White’s book The Great Controversy to Philadelphia homes in the coming weeks.
- The GLOW Tract ministry is sponsoring a mission trip to Philadelphia Sept. 18-28 with the goal of distributing 1 million tracts around the city.
