Islam Projected to Pass Christianity in the 21st Century

According to the latest Pew Research Center projections, Islam, with a 73 percent increase rate, will be the fastest growing world religion between now and 2050.

At such a growth rate, Islam is positioned to pass Christianity in numbers by 2070.

This Islamic increase is largely attributed to the highest fertility rate of 3.1 percent coupled with a youthful population of 34 percent under age 15.

In North America, Islam and “unaffiliated” adherents are projected to be the fastest growing religious groups.

These startling statistics may make the gospel work seem insurmountable. Indeed, one may question the legitimacy of the Gospel Commission and the Adventist mission of Revelation 14.

While the work may seem daunting, it is important to remember the One who sent us. God is not just guiding us, He is pushing us forward deep into His work. The harvest is plentiful and the workers are needed still.
