In Relationships, Religious Compatibility Matters

As the world celebrated love on February 14th, one wonders what role faith plays in relationships.  It turns, out that religious compatibility is an ingredient for a successful relationship.  As the Desert News reported, “In general, shared religious beliefs enable couples to comfortably bring religion into their relationship, facilitating conversations that are more difficult for others.”  Read more here.

Service: The Alpha Female’s Guide to Men and Marriage

While the debate rages as to whether women can have it all, D. C McAllister pens an insightful review of Susan Venker’s “The Alpha Female’s Guide to Men and Marriage.”  McAllister writes, women “…need to grab that power, not to control their husbands, but to serve and to love.” By this she echoes Venker who writes, “if you want to make your marriage better, serve until it hurts. Serve until it feels like you’re serving too much. And then serve some more.” Read more here.

To be clear, men owe service and love to their wives as well (Ephesians 5:25).  Men are also called be like candles in their homes.  Like candles dying while emitting light, men are to die to self in service for their homes—sacrificing while growing in character.  This mutual submission and service to one another is the bedrock of a happy relationship.  On this thought, Ellen White writes, “Marriage, a union for life, is a symbol of the union between Christ and His church. The spirit that Christ manifests toward His church is the spirit that the husband and wife are to manifest toward each other. If they love God supremely, they will love each other in the Lord. . . . In their mutual self-denial and self-sacrifice they will be a blessing to each other. . .” {FLB 259.5}

Most American Religious Groups Support Same-sex Marriage

A new PRRI survey reveals many religious groups having a favorable view towards same-sex marriage.  Whats shocking about this finding is that less than 65% of main stream Christianity support same-sex marriage.  This erosion of faith in the authority and trustworthiness of the Bible among church goers should be alarming  to all Christians.
