Less than 4 out of 10 say God created man in present form, lowest in 35 years

According to the latest Gallup, only 38% of Americans believe God created man in present form, which is the lowest in 35 years.  Approximately 75% of Americans still believe that God was involved in the creation of humanity in some way including the possibility of a divinely guided evolutionary process. This revelation may correlate  with the rise of biblical skepticism in American society.

Steps to Christ Celebrates 125 years!

Have you ever read this small, wonderful, book?  It is among the most translated and beloved books in the world.  In fact, many have made it a commitment to read it at least once every year.  Some key phrases that are repeated in this little volume are the “joy of holiness”, “communion with God” and “purity of heart.”  In light of the 125 year of publication, we found it suitable to share with you a few quotes from this powerful book.

The world, though fallen, is not all sorrow and misery. In nature itself are messages of hope and comfort. There are flowers upon the thistles, and the thorns are covered with roses.  {SC 9}

The Father loves us, not because of the great propitiation, but He provided the propitiation because He loves us. Christ was the medium through which He could pour out His infinite love upon a fallen world. {SC 13}

None are so sinful that they cannot find strength, purity, and righteousness in Jesus, who died for them. He is waiting to strip them of their garments stained and polluted with sin, and to put upon them the white robes of righteousness; He bids them live and not die.  {SC 52}

As the flower turns to the sun, that the bright beams may aid in perfecting its beauty and symmetry, so should we turn to the Sun of Righteousness, that heaven’s light may shine upon us, that our character may be developed into the likeness of Christ. {SC 68}

A life in Christ is a life of restfulness. {SC 70}

Let us keep fresh in our memory all the tender mercies that God has shown us,—the tears He has wiped away, the pains He has soothed, the anxieties removed, the fears dispelled, the wants supplied, the blessings bestowed,—thus strengthening ourselves for all that is before us through the remainder of our pilgrimage. {SC 125}

Pope Francis Addresses Pedophilia Scandal in the RCC

Pope Francis recently made his first statements about the pedophilia scandal that has rocked the Roman Catholic Church in recent years.

‘Pope Francis acknowledged Saturday that the Vatican has a 2,000-case backlog in processing clerical sex abuse cases and says criticism of the slow pace was justified. But he says more staff are being added and insists the Vatican is “on the right path.”‘

False reports have been circulating that the Pope has absolved the priests involved in these cases as well as others previously tried by the church but Francis has responded to these assertions:

‘He denied he had ever agreed to a request for clemency from a pedophile priest, saying once a sentence is confirmed on appeal by the congregation “it is finished.”‘
