The Compass Magazine today announced the appointment of Mark A. Kellner as Managing Editor.
“We’re happy to have a professional of Mark’s background on the team,” Steve Lucht, president of Adventists United for Biblical Truth, the magazine’s sponsoring organization. “His support for our mission, and for the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, is also welcome.”
Kellner, who currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, is a journalist. He was, in 2014 and 2015, a national reporter for the Deseret News, a daily newspaper in the city. While there, he reported on issues of faith and freedom, as well as publishing profiles of Adventist Church leaders Dr. Ella Smith Simmons, a general vice president of the world church, and Pastor Daniel R. Jackson, president of the North American Division.
Before joining the newspaper, Kellner served 11 years at the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in Silver Spring, Maryland. He initially served as an assistant director in the Communication Department, responsible for the online Adventist News Network service, and then, for seven years, as News Editor for Adventist Review and Adventist World magazines. He’s also contributed to Religion News Service and The Washington Times, where he produced over 1,200 weekly columns and articles between 1991 and 2014.
The Compass Magazine endeavors to communicate Bible truth and Seventh-day Adventist beliefs to the present age, using online publication as a way of quickly reacting to current events.
“I am grateful for the opportunity of serving readers of The Compass Magazine and appreciate the opportunity of working with a dedicated team of contributors and staff,” Kellner said.
